Corporate social responsibility

Smith & Williamson recognises the fundamental importance of good corporate citizenship and awareness of the communities around us and in which we operate. We recognise that our business has an environmental and social impact on society through our operations, direct donations and through our contribution to the wider economy.

We have implemented a responsibility programme which targets reductions in our consumables usage, and our efforts were recently recognised at the European Practice Management Awards which commended our adoption of core environmental benchmarks through our London office relocation. Assessment of the firm's carbon footprint and that of suppliers prior to their employment are also being undertaken.

In addition to corporate charitable contributions, a number of staff and directors serve as trustees and directors of charities and the firm gives encouragement to these and other voluntary activities. We continually reassess ways in which we can more effectively evaluate and monitor the environmental and social conditions upon which we have impact, in the belief that improvements in these areas will not only benefit our community but also resonate with our ultimate responsibility to our shareholders by adding value to our business operations.

In December 2007, Smith & Williamson supported 64 charities with Christmas charitable donations.

We are committed to reporting openly and honestly on our efforts. Please visit this page for future updates.
