‘Best Managed Firm’ honour

9th October 2008

Smith & Williamson, one of the leading independent investment management, financial advisory and accounting groups in the UK, has claimed the prestigious ‘Best Managed Firm' title at the Managing Partners' Forum 2008 European Practice Management Awards.

Gareth Pearce, chairman of Smith & Williamson, accepted the award on the firm's behalf. He said:

"We're excited to have received this top accolade which recognises the achievements of the firm as a whole.  All of this has been made possible by the combination of a strong management team, commitment to service delivery and support from behind the scenes.

Smith & Williamson continues to go from strength to strength and has opened two new offices in the last six months.  This award is a great recognition of our success and the hard work and contributions from our people."

The judges commented: "Smith & Williamson is a different type of professional service firm, combining the disciplines of accounting with investment management and a private bank. [It] has a very strong management team who actively support the firm's communication processes. The board is led by Gareth Pearce and the firm is managed by a seven member senior management team that includes Marketing, Human Resources and Legal/Compliance.  This firm is different, innovative, entrepreneurial, and a great place to work."

Smith & Williamson is no stranger to recognition from independent judging panels. The firm has won several recent awards for private client excellence, including ‘Accountancy Team of the Year' at the STEP awards and Best High Net Worth Tax Team (LexisNexis Taxation Awards). The firm won the Large Firm of the Year honour at the 2007 Accountancy Age Awards.
